Description.

Nissa and her husband sent me a message after following my work online and let me know that they don’t celebrate January 26th and usually still have to work that day and over the last couple of years they’ve been financially stable enough to be able to save their additional wages and either donate them to indigenous charities or support local indigenous businesses or artists and this year they decided to choose me to create a piece of art for their home!

Nissa and her husband are highschool sweethearts and have two sons and this piece tells the story of their family living and exploring on Country. The whole family are water babies and find the colour blue just as calming as the ocean.

A pure white dot is featured in this design to represent their first baby that unfortunately didn’t survive pregnancy; as well as a stroke of pink hidden within the painting to represent strong feminine energy and a possible baby girl in future.

In the centre, symbols of the boys/men are holding a spear and a hunting stick, the mother/female figure has a digging stick and coolamon/shield for gathering and collecting all seated around a meeting place/campfire.

MaterialsCanvas I only paint on the highest quality double primed 100% cotton fine art canvas.
Paints I use either Jonsonja or Mattisse matte flow acrylic paint for all of my artworks.
All artworks are acrylic on canvas sheets unless otherwise stated.
Items marked 'Acrylic on stretched canvas' do not require framing and are shipped ready to be hung.
Care InstructionsDo not expose paintings or prints to direct sunlight.
Display your art in a cool, dry place.
Gently clean your canvases with a soft, damp cloth.
Avoid using household chemical cleaners, as they can damage the artwork.
Wrap your prints in acid-free archival paper before storing or transporting them.
Never stack multiple paintings against each other.
FramingMost of my artworks are on unstretched canvas sheets unless otherwise marked. We recommend having your artwork stretched and hung within a frame of your choice upon arrival to avoid damage in transit.
